I just started reading “Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11g R1 – Business Service Management” by Ashwin Kumar Karkala and Govinda Raj Sambamurthy
Traditionally Database Administrators have been focusing on the monitoring of infrastructural components like: the Oracle Databases, Listener and more recently Grid Infrastructure and Fusion Middleware.
However, same as the two writers of the book I believe that we should start getting aware of the fact that the only concern of the business (the end user, our customers) is: the number of transactions the end user have been able to process at the end of the day.
This, forcing us to make agreements with our end users about their expectations concerning the services our IT departments are providing.
I will post my review as soon as possible, stay tuned 😉
